Barnett, Brooks earn bids to national championships

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland University freshmen Kalea Barnett and Martarious Brooks have both qualified for the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships set for March 2-4 in Johnson City, Tenn.


Barnett wins shot put for CU at conference championships

LEBANON, Tenn. – Freshman Kalea Barnett won the shot put while senior Garang Madut placed second in the 5000-meters and freshman Jordan Hill finished second in the 800-meters, leading the Cumberland contingent at the Mid-South Conference Track & Field Championships on Saturday in Bowling Green, Ky.


Craft, Madut lead CU track at Jessica Starks Open

LEBANON, Tenn. – Danielle Craft won the triple jump, finished second in the 60-meters and fourth in the long jump, Kalea Barnett posted a victory in the shot put and Garang Madut finished first in the 5,000-meters and was a part of the winning distance medley relay, leading the Cumberland track teams on Saturday at the Jessica Starks Open in Columbus, Ohio.


Track adds Bertrand, Atkins for spring semester

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland track and field coach Mardy Scales announced the addition of two student-athletes for the spring semester – Murfreesboro native Dante Bertrand and Daytona Beach, Fla., product Xavier Atkins.


CU hosting All-Sports Camp on Sept. 11

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland University and the Lebanon-Wilson County Chamber of Commerce Sports Council are teaming up for an 2nd Annual All Sports Camp for Wilson County residents ages 7-12 on Sunday, September 11 from 3-5 p.m. on the CU campus. Registration starts at 2 p.m. that day.


Frost, Hunter sign with CU track and field

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland track and field coach Mardy Scales announced the signings of Tavarus Frost and Drew Hunter, both Memphis, Tenn., natives, to scholarship papers this week for the 2016-17 academic year. Frost and Hunter are the first men’s track signees for the Phoenix for the upcoming season.


Phoenix add Rojas to signing class

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland University cross country coach Jim Seckel announced the signing of Alamo, Tenn., native Jerry Rojas to scholarship papers this week for the 2016-17 academic year. Rojas is the second signee for the Phoenix for the upcoming season.


Royster inks with CU cross country

LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland University cross country coach Jim Seckel announced the signing of Jasper, Ala., native Jake Royster to scholarship papers this week for the 2016 season, the first signee for the Phoenix for next season.
