Football set for Final Road Game of the Season at No. 11 Lindsey Wilson

LEBANON, Tenn.--Cumberland football to round out their fourth-consecutive road trip and fourth game against a ranked team on Saturday as they travel to face No. 11 Lindsey Wilson at the Parn in Columbia, Ky.

The Phoenix are coming into the game after their best offensive output of the season scoring 62 points against St. Andrews last week. The Blue Raiders enter after just their second loss of the season to fall to 6-2 on the year. This was the first time Lindsey Wilson was shut out in five seasons.

This is the 12th meeting between the two teams with Lindsey Wilson leading 7-to-4 in the all-time series. The last time Cumberland beat the Blue Raiders was in 2018 when Lindsey Wilson came to Lebanon unbeaten as the No. 4 team in the country.

Both teams rely on the play of their running backs as Jbias Dawson has the 13th most rushing yards in the NAIA with 839 yards and 12 touchdowns. Treylon Sheppard is just behind him in 16th with 835 yards and seven scores.

Cumberland has the fourth-best rushing offense in the nation averaging 248.3 yards per game. Quarterback Luke Holloway is the second-leading rusher on the team with 516 rushing yards and a team-high eight touchdowns. Nick Burge has also ran for 369 yards and four scores.

The Blue Raiders have one of the best run-stopping defenses in the country holding opponents to just 57.3 rushing yards per game.

Lindsey Wilson quarterback Ethan Cash has completed 119-of-218 passes, for just over 50% completion percentage, with 1,518 yds, 12 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.

The combination of Cash and Dawson's play have helped Lindsey Wilson to the 13th most points per game for an offense at 38.9 points per game.

The Blue Raiders have also scored four defensive touchdowns this season which is fourth-best in the country.

Cumberland has not turned over the ball offensively in their past two games while the defense has continued to force turnovers, running their turnover margin to +8. The Blue Raiders just have a +1 turnover margin. If CU can control the ball, create takeaways, and control the clock, they could have a good opportunity to go into Columbia and get the win.

The game can be watched live on the Lindsey Wilson Sports Network at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/lwc/

The Cumberland radio crew of Christian Kaposy and Bob Lea will be there to call all the action on WANT FM 98.9 and WCOR AM 1490.

Kick-off is set for 1:30 p.m. central time with the pregame show starting 30 minutes prior to kick-off.
