Mission Statement and Philosophy

Utilizing the Teambuildr training software, our performance staff implements a comprehensive approach to training based around improving all areas of athletic performance and reducing the likelihood of injury.  This is accomplished through the use of scientifically proven methods and principles of strength and conditioning, these include ground-based, multi-joint, and multi-planar movements.  We are constantly evolving and refining our approach to training with the goal of providing the highest level of athletic preparation for all Cumberland student-athletes.

The core values of Cumberland University Sports Performance are:

  1.  Discipline: Doing what you're supposed to do, how you're supposed to do it, and doing it that way all the time with attention to detail.
  2.  Communication: Verbal and visual communication.  Clear, open, and honest.
  3.  Effort: Execute with intention to the best of your ability in everything you do.
  4.  Coachability: The desire to improve by listening and then implementing a coach's critiques and instructions.  NO ONE PERSON IS ABOVE BEING COACHED.
