The Voices of Phoenix Basketball

Jon Boyce brings the excitement of Cumberland Basketball to life each season as the longtime voice of the Phoenix. Entering his 17th season with the Cumberland Sports Network and his 12th year as the play-by-play announcer in 2025-26, Boyce delivers crisp, insightful coverage of both the men’s and women’s teams.

For home games, Boyce is joined by Ron Pavan, Vice President for Athletics. Coach Pavan is a former basketball coach who provides in-depth analysis and perspective as the color commentator. On the road for Mid-South Conference matchups, Boyce is accompanied by Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Information Kyle Allen, who adds context and commentary from a media and SID perspective.

The Voices of Cumberland Baseball

Randy Sallis is the trusted voice of Cumberland Baseball, calling the action for both home and away games across the Cumberland Sports Network. Sallis recently completed his fifth season as the lead play-by-play announcer and has been part of the broadcast team for seven seasons overall, having served as a color commentator in his first two years.

Joining Sallis in the booth for most broadcasts is Chris Slaughter, a former Cumberland player and widely regarded as the third-best catcher in program history. Slaughter played under legendary head coach Woody Hunt in the 1990s, helping the team to four NAIA World Series appearances. Also contributing to the broadcast team is Chris Schrock, another former Cumberland player and coach. Schrock was a team captain and key member of the 1995 NAIA World Series runner-up squad. He went on to sign with the Tampa Bay Rays and made headlines in 2000 by leading the South Atlantic League in hitting for the month of July, batting .400.

Together, this experienced crew brings an unmatched level of insight, storytelling, and passion to every broadcast of Cumberland Baseball. The crew has helped develop the baseball broadcast into one of the biggest and best broadcasts in college baseball.
