CONWAY, Ark.—Cumberland drops their fifth straight contest falling in their final non-conference game of the season 78-73 on the road at Central Baptist. 

Cumberland (4-10) fell for the fifth straight time, four of those losses being within five points. The Phoenix went 27-for-74 from the field and 4-of-19 from three. CU picked up 18 offensive rebounds that led to 17 second chance points. 

Triston Conger led CU in scoring with 18 points going 6-for-11 from the field and 6-for-7 from the line. He also added six boards in the game. Demarius Boyd finished with 15 points, he had 11 at the half. Kamari's Coffey finished with 14 points and seven rebounds. Doyle Cockrill III had eight points and Keyshawn Robinson had five with 12 rebounds. 

Central Baptist (10-4) shot 50.9% from the field and went 7-of-23 from three. The Mustangs got double-figure points from Tomas Mikyska with 18 and Jonas Carlisle and Devin Foster each had 14. 

The Mustangs finished with 10 blocks in the game, the most against the Phoenix in the last 10 seasons in a single game. 

The first half started back-and forth to a 9-8 Phoenix lead after the first five minutes. After that the Mustangs went on a 5-0 run on a jumper and a three for a four-point lead. 

Trailing 15-13, Central Baptist went on another 5-0 spurt to grab a seven point lead 20-13 with 12 minutes left in the half. 

Still down by seven at 24-17, Cumberland went on their biggest run of the half, 7-0, to tie the game. Boyd scored the first five on the spurt, two from the line and a triple, and Coffey made a tip in to tie it at 24-24 with eight minutes left in the half. 

Tied 26-26, Central Baptist went on another big run 9-2 to pull ahead 35-28, but Cumberland closed the half on a 7-2 run scoring the final five points of the half to trail by two, 37-35. 

The first seven minutes of the second started like the game did with each team answering the other to a 49-46 lead for the Mustangs. At that point Central Baptist created some separation with back-to-back baskets, a two and a three, to lead by eight with 11 minutes to go. 

The Mustangs held on to an eight point margin until eight minutes left when Cumberland started to chip away at the lead, but each time the Phoenix got it to a two possession game CBC would extend it back out. 

Cumberland cut it to four on an and one from Conger at 66-62, but the next possession answered with a basket. Conger would again score in the lane, but this time an and one on the other end made it a seven point lead, 71-64. 

Down 75-69 with 2:35 to play, Cumberland made a push at the lead. Stokes got out in transition and had an easy layup for two. Boyd followed with two free throws to make it a two point game with 1:19 left, but a technical by the Phoenix allowed Central Baptist to shoot free throws. Fortunately, they only came out with one before finishing the game with two more free throws to win 78-73. 

The Phoenix will now get geared up for conference play set to begin next Thursday on the road at Freed-Hardeman. The men will tip-off at 7:30 p.m. following the women's game. The Cumberland Sports Network will be there to call the game live on WANT FM 98.9.
