LEBANON, Tenn. - - Cumberland Women's Soccer Defeats In-state rival Bethel 2-0. 

The Phoenix started slow through the first ten minutes of play as only one shot was attempted in the way of Bethel. Cumberland attempted their first shot 13 minutes into play and it was just high. A couple of minutes later, Kadisha Martina recorded the Phoenix their first shot on goal. 

Both teams had a slow first half of play with the Phoenix having two shots on goal and the Wildcats having three shots on goal for themselves. 

Gabby Jones went on a huge run all the way down the field being doubled teamed and then eventually triple teamed until she got to the box. Jones shot from the right post in the 40th minute and put it directly into the back of the net to take the lead against the Wildcats 1-0.

Jones found Kadisha Martina across the box for her 16th goal of the season after going on another run and Martina shot it directly between two defenders and scored the second goal of the match to make it 2-0 for CU.

The second half was a stronghold of defense. The Phoenix only allowed one shot on goal for the rest of the game holding them to only four shots on goal in total. However, the Phoenix recorded five shots on goal, scoring 2 of those to defeat the Wildcats in a 2-0 victory. 

The Phoenix will be back in action at Lindsey Donnell Stadium to take on the Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders on October 29th, at 12:00 PM.
