LEBANON, Tenn.--The Phoenix rattle off their fifth-straight win with a big second half beating Life 59-48 inside the Dallas Floyd Phoenix Arena on Thursday. 

Cumberland (7-6) gets over .500 for the first time this season finishing off their final home game of the calendar year with a victory. The Phoenix avenged an early season road loss to the Running Eagles to split the season-series.

The Phoenix went 20-for-55 from the field and hit three triples. Cumberland got to the line 22 times, converting 16 free throws. The Phoenix dominated the boards 50-to-26 with 18 offensive rebounds. 

Kayla Gordon led all scores with a 21 point performance. Gordon went 7-for-16 and converted 7-of-8 free throws. Emaleigh Tarpley recorded her fourth-straight double-double going for 16 points and 10 rebounds. Faith Colston added in 10 boards and four assists while posting two points. Ever Walker contributed eight points in the win. 

Life (8-7) shot 34.0% from the field and made four threes. The Running Eagles were led by Dianis Hurtado with 11 points. Brionna Sims added in 10 points. 

The Phoenix opened the game with a layup from Gordon. Life answered and Tarpley converted an and-one for the lead. The Running Eagles made two jumpers to get us to the first quarter media with the Phoenix down by one, 6-5 with 4:38 left in the first. 

Cumberland held Life scoreless for over three minutes before the nailed a three to end the quarter. Over that stretch, Gordon got hot for Cumberland making three baskets for a 11-9 lead at the end of the first. Gordon scored eight points in the quarter. 

Shots started falling for both sides in the start of the second quarter. Hurtado drilled a three to start the frame for Life as Brillhart answered with a triple of her own. Both sides swapped baskets before a 4-0 run by Life sent the Phoenix into a timeout tied at 18-18 with 5:40 left in the half. 

The Phoenix and Life would swap point to the half deadlocked at 24-24. 

Cumberland started the second half on a big run to create separation. The Phoenix went on a 9-0 run before Life hit a three in the corner after being scoreless the first five minutes of the half. 

CU expanded the lead and the run to go on an 18-3 spurt to lead by as much as 15 points up 42-27 with two minutes left in the quarter. Life would close the quarter on a 7-1 run to trail by just nine heading into the fourth, 43-34. 

The Phoenix opened the fourth with a 6-2 spurt as Gordon knocked down two free throws and made a shot while Marley Hyde also hit a jumper to lead 49-36. The Running Eagles knocked down to free throws and Walker answered with a three. Gordon slowed the run with two free throws before Pope hit a jumper. Cumberland was able to extend the lead with four consecutive free throws to put CU up 11 and ice the game with a minute left. 

The Phoenix went on to win by 11, closing out a 59-48 final score over Life. 

Cumberland will be back in action to close the year against Bryan College and Tennessee Wesleyan on December 30th and 31st in Johnson City, Tennessee.
