Lebanon, Tenn. - - The Cumberland men's basketball team dropped their conference finale against Georgetown, losing in a 101-56 rout.

The Tigers went ahead early, creating a ten point gap between themselves and the Phoenix, leading 12-2 after less than five minutes of action. Cumberland's defensive effort was enough to keep the game within an arm's length, but Georgetown made shots when it mattered to keep the Tigers ahead.

With just under ten minutes to play the Phoenix were able to bring the game back to single digits, as Demarius Boyd scored on three straight possessions. Georgetown never let up though, going on a 25 to 7 run to end the first half, creating a 42-18 ballgame at the break.

Cumberland came out charging in the second half, going on a quick 7-2 run. The Tigers continued to assert themselves however, never letting their lead drop to less than 20 points for very long at a time.

Cam Brooks-Harris was spraying three-pointers in the second half, helping to push out the Tiger lead to more than forty points, throughout much of the second half.

Demarius Boyd attempted to play hero, scoring a team high 24 points, but Georgetown was just too much offensively, shooting nearly 60% from the field by the time the final whistle was blown.

The Phoenix will be back in action next weekend as the Mid-South Conference Tournament will tip-off.
