Blue Raiders down Phoenix 99-79 at home

LEBANON, Tenn.--Lindsey Wilson downs the Phoenix at home with a 99-79 victory inside the Dallas Floyd Phoenix Arena on Thursday.

Cumberland (6-16, 2-6 MSC) shot 35.3% from the field and knocked down threes early to keep them in it, but wound up going 9-for-29 from deep. The Phoenix went 22-for-29 from the free throw line in the game, but were out-rebounded 2-to-1 with the Blue Raiders hauling 51 to Cumberland's 25.

Santonio McDaniel and Keyshawn Robinson each tallied 14 points to lead Cumberland in scoring. McDaniel went 4-for-6 from the field and 3-for-4 from three in 20 minutes of action and Robinson went 3-for-9 with a team-high eight boards.

Lindsey Wilson (13-10, 4-4 MSC) shot 63.8% from the field, their second game this season against Cumberland shooting over 60%. The Blue Raiders also hit 8-of-18 triples.

Bryce Brown had a huge game going 15-for-20 to lead all scorers with 33 points. Kenyata Carbon added 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting with eight boards. Johrdon Mumford and Connor Robinson each had double-figures at 13 and 12.

Cumberland took and early lead as Robinson sank two from the line and Berry got a basket early to go up 4-0. After two baskets from Lindsey to tie it, the Phoenix went on a 8-2 run with two baskets from Robinson, two free throws from Boyd, and a layup from Coffey to lead 12-6 early.

Lindsey Wilson used a huge 19-0 run to tie the game and then take the lead going into the media timeout with 10:16 left in the half. Over the run, the Phoenix were scoreless for nearly scoreless seven minutes when Coffey finally saw a three go in for Cumberland and end the stretch down by 10 at 25-15.

Santonio McDaniel scored five straight points for Cumberland and drilled a three that sparked a steal and a fastbreak lay in for Boyd to cut it to 30-22 before the Blue Raiders added one more basket at the under six media.

Out of the break, McDaniel and Wattenbarger hit threes on two-straight trips down the floor to get within two possessions, but after both sides swapped baskets Lindsey went on a 6-0 run to get back up by 10, 40-30 with two and half left.

The Phoenix closed the half on a 9-2 run to go into the locker room trailing by three, 42-39.

Lindsey Wilson opened the second half with a 7-0 run to push the lead back to double figures. Wattenbarger got a jumper to roll in to get CU on the board in the second half, but Carbon drained a triple from the left wing to get it right back for Lindsey, 52-41 with 16 minutes left.

The Blue Raiders pushed it out to 20-point lead at the 10-minute mark and maintained that margin throughout the rest of the game winning 99-79.

The Phoenix are at home next Thursday to take on Freed-Hardeman. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
