Bowling Green, Ky. - - The Cumberland softball season came to a close as the Phoenix could not overcome the Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders in today's elimination game, 8-0.

Action for the Phoenix was far and few between, as Kayden Murray from LWC was locked in inside of the circle. While Cumberland went three up-three down, the Blue Raiders were able to put up a run in the first inning.

Cumberland was able to get two runners on base, recording a leadoff hit off the bat of Kenzie France and taking a base as Sara Brogdon was hit by a pitch. After that point though, the Phoenix were unable to put another runner on base for the remainder of the game.

Kaitlin Higgins was able to keep the Blue Raiders off the books for another inning, seeing the second go by with no team doing damage on either side. In the bottom of the third though, Lindsey was able to get two runners in scoring position and before the Phoenix got out of the inning, the five-seed pushed those two runners across.

Annalee Moore came in to pitch for Cumberland and did well pitching, but LWC were still able to push across a run, making it 4-0. Although the Phoenix did all they could to keep the game in a manageable position, Lindsey was able to load the bases and find their way through the Cumberland defense.

The Blue Raiders loaded the bases without recording an out and by the time the inning had come to a close, the bases were still loaded and the Phoenix were sent home because of an 8-0 run rule. With the loss, Cumberland's season comes to an end, finishing just above .500 at 21-20.
