Men's Basketball Falls Against Lindsey Wilson in Columbia

COLUMBIA, Ky. – Cumberland Men's Basketball falls Against Lindsey Wilson in First Conference Loss.

The Phoenix had three players inside the double digit mark despite their first conference loss at Lindsey Wilson. Keyshawn Robinson led the night for the Phoenix with 19 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double. Robinson's career high in the points column. 

Demarius Boyd continues to showcase his offensive threat with 20 points, five rebounds and three assists. Boyd shot 6-18 from the field.

Triston Conger finished the night with 12 points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Conger shot 6-13 from the field.

Cumberland looked to stay undefeated in conference play against Lindsey Wilson. The Phoenix started slowly getting down by 10 points three minutes into the game. It was all LWC within the first ten minutes of the first half. The Phoenix were outscored 24-10 with LWC leading 14. 

Cumberland shot 4-14 from the field and struggled offensively shooting 0-3 from the three point line. Johrdon Mumford kept the Blue Raiders hot early in the first half shooting 100% from the field making a three also which progressed the Blue Raiders to their largest lead of the first half at a 20 point lead. 

The Phoenix trailed by 13 at halftime and similarly to the last game against Campbellsville, CU came out with two great possessions to bring it to single digits and get back into the game. The Blue Raiders continued to impress out of the break and scored right away. 

Cumberland went on a small run to bring them back within striking distance but the Blue Raiders got hot again and went on another run shortly after the half to extend the lead back to 16. Keshawn Robinson brought the fire for the Phoenix late in the second half recording a career high 19 points that brought the Phoenix back within nine points late in the game. 

Cumberland struggled beyond the arch shooting 2-14 from the three point line. The Phoenix shot 15-24 from the free throw line and 42% from the field. LWC was too efficient for the Phoenix and close out the game winning 84-75. 

The Phoenix will be back in action against University of the Cumberlands on January the 25th at 3:00 PM.
