Women's Soccer End Regular Season with No.1 Seed Clinching Victory

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - - Cumberland women's soccer secured at least half of the Mid-South Conference Regular Season Championship with a commanding 6-2 win over Campbellsville on Friday night at Finley Stadium.

Victoria Collins led the charge with two goals, including the opener just four minutes into the match and another in the second half. The Phoenix wasted no time imposing their attack, scoring four times in the first 22 minutes to put the game out of reach early.

Campbellsville briefly leveled the match at 1-1 in the fifth minute, but Cumberland answered immediately as Seika Stull found the net off an assist from Kadisha Martina. Stull helped create another moments later, forcing an own goal to make it 3-1. Itziar Garcia then added her name to the scoresheet in the 22nd minute to give CU a 4-1 advantage heading into halftime.

Collins struck again in the 65th to make it 5-1 before an own goal from the Phoenix gave the Tigers a second. Martina capped the scoring just a minute later, converting her fourth goal of the season to seal the 6-2 result.

Stull finished with a goal and an assist, while Martina contributed a goal and assist of her own. Celia Martin made three saves in goal to earn the win as Cumberland improved to 13-3-1 overall and 6-0-1 in Mid-South play, remaining unbeaten in conference action.

Cumberland dominated in every phase, outshooting the Tigers 23-8 and earning 14 corner kicks to Campbellsville's three.

With the Phoenix's victory they move up to 16 points from conference play and guarantee themselves the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament. Cumberland will now have to wait for Lindsey Wilson to play on Saturday to decide if the championship will be shared, or if CU will take the crown outright.
