Phoenix Look to Bounce Back on the Road Against No. 25 Lindsey Wilson

LEBANON, Tenn.--Cumberland women's volleyball looks to bounce back on the road Wednesday night against No. 25 Lindsey Wilson.

The Phoenix (19-8, 3-1 MSC) are seeking a response after being swept by No. 10 University of the Cumberlands last weekend. This will mark Cumberland's fourth match this season against a ranked opponent, where they currently hold a 1-2 record.

Despite the loss, the Phoenix offense continues to produce at a high level, totaling nearly 1,200 kills with a .201 team hitting percentage. Sophomore outside hitter Lila Cade remains one of the top players in the Mid-South Conference, leading the league with 305 kills while hitting .268. Cade also leads the conference in receptions and ranks fourth in digs after recording a double-double against the Patriots.

Senior middle hitter Hazel Konkel is nearing a pair of career milestones, sitting just five blocks away from 500 and 42 kills shy of 1,200. The DuBois, Illinois native leads the MSC in solo blocks (20) and total blocks (95) while ranking fourth in both blocks per set (0.93) and hitting percentage (.365).

No. 25 Lindsey Wilson (19-5, 3-1 MSC) enters the matchup riding a two-match winning streak and has claimed four of its last five, including a notable win over No. 10 Missouri Baptist. Like Cumberland, the Blue Raiders' only conference loss came against the University of the Cumberlands.

Offensively, Lindsey Wilson has tallied 1,110 kills on a .214 hitting percentage. Senior outside hitter Ola Wyrzykowska ranks second in the MSC with 265 kills, while graduate outside hitter Petra Fernandez Garcia ranks third with 224. Both have earned Mid-South Attacker of the Week honors this season. Junior setter Luiza Goncalves, second in the MSC in assists per set (9.36), also earned a Setter of the Week award.

Defensively, the Blue Raiders rank second in the conference in digs (1,371) and block assists (292), and third in total blocks (175) and blocks per set (1.97).  Junior libero Momo Hampton leads the conference in digs with 346 while Wyrzykowska ranks fifth in the league in digs (262), while. Freshman middle blocker Ana Clara Beltran Sacca leads the MSC in assisted blocks (77) and blocks per set (1.00), ranks second in total blocks (85), and has been named Mid-South Defender of the Week once this season.

Historically, Lindsey Wilson has controlled the series, holding a 49-19 all-time advantage. The Blue Raiders had a stretch of 26 straight wins against Cumberland before the Phoenix snapped that with back-to-back wins in 2022. However, Lindsey has won the last five meetings, including season sweeps in 2023 and 2024. Cumberland is 4-20 all-time when playing in Columbia.

First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CT, with live coverage available on the Lindsey Wilson Sports Network.
