LEBANON, Tenn.--Demarius Boyd is named the Mid-South Conference Offensive Player of the Week after helping upset the No. 1 team in the NAIA, announced by league officials on Monday. 

Boyd led the Phoenix to a win over No. 1 Freed-Hardeman at home scoring 28 points hitting 61.5% of his shots. He also hit three threes and was 9-of-10 from the line in the win. 

He scored 14 more on the road at No. 3 Georgetown to average 21.0 points on the week. He added 6.5 rebounds per game shooting 44.8% from the field this week, 36.4% from three, and 75.0% from the line.  

This season Boyd is averaging 19.8 points per game, second-best in the conference. He is shooting 44.5% from the field and has made the most threes on the team with 38. He has also averaged 4.2 rebounds per game and 2.5 assists per game. 

Boyd is closing in on 1,000 career points in a Cumberland uniform. He sits at 973 heading into this week's games with 395 on this season.

This is his second Mid-South Conference Player of the Week honor of his career and first of the season. He is the fourth Cumberland player to earn Mid-South Conference Player of the Week honors this season. Triston Conger has been named the Offensive Player of the Week twice while Keyshawn Robinson and Khi Wallace have earned Defensive Player of the Week honors one time each. 

Cumberland will be at home this week as the Phoenix host Bethel on Thursday and Campbellsville on Saturday.
