BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Cumberland Falls to No. 3 Campbellsville in Mid-South Conference Tournament

The Cumberland women's basketball team saw its season come to an end, falling 81-55 to Campbellsville in the Mid-South Conference Tournament in Bowling Green. The Phoenix fought hard but couldn't overcome the Tigers' relentless offense and defensive pressure.

Campbellsville set the tone early, jumping out to a 24-2 lead in the first seven minutes, fueled by back-to-back three-pointers from Paige Serafini, who finished with 21 points. The Phoenix responded with a three from Faith Colston, sparked by a Kayla Gordon layup and a Mariyah Person three-pointer, cutting the deficit to 28-10. However, the Tigers answered with another offensive surge, closing the first quarter up 33-10.

Cumberland continued to battle in the second quarter, with a 7-0 run early that was sparked by a Myajae Eubanks three and layups from Gordon and Eubanks. But Campbellsville's Whitney Hay and Lauren Lee took over, combining for 12 points in the quarter as the Tigers extended their lead to 49-22 at the half.

Coming out of the break, the Phoenix looked to mount a comeback. Emaleigh Tarpley was fouled and knocked down both free throws. Kayla Gordon played well in the third quarter with seven points and some strong attacks at the rim.  However, Campbellsville quickly shut down the momentum, going on a 10-2 run that pushed the lead to 67-35 to end the third quarter.

Cumberland continued to fight, with Maddie Brillhart and Emaleigh Tarpley hitting back to back threes at the start of the fourth quarter. But the Phoenix could not hold off the Tigers of Campbellsville who ended the game outsourcing the Phoenix 81-55.

Kayla Gordon led the Phoenix in scoring with 15 points, four rebounds, and four assists. Faith Colston and Myajae Eubanks both finished with nine points apiece. The Phoenix shot 34% from the field and 23% from beyond the arc.

With the loss, the Phoenix's season comes to a close, capping off a hard-fought year in the Mid-South Conference.
