BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Cumberland Women's Tennis saw its MSC Conference run come to an end on Thursday, falling 4-0 to No. 18-ranked University of the Cumberlands in the Mid-South Conference Semifinals in Bowling Green.

The Phoenix picked up a win at No. 3 doubles, where Valentina Mendez and Madeleine Darud earned a 6-2 victory, but the Patriots secured the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. Kaede Hatano and Lara Zugasti battled to a 7-5 finish at line one but came up just short.

In singles, Elina Sungatullina fell 6-2, 6-2 to Karen Kondo at the top spot. Asya Tilsim Timur dropped a 6-0, 6-2 decision on court two, and Madeleine Darud lost 6-4, 6-2 at the four spot as the Patriots clinched the match.

The three remaining matches were left unfinished. Emilia Nowak split sets on court three, taking the first 6-3 before dropping the second 6-2. Lara Zugasti was tied one set apiece on court five, and Ame Van Eijk was closing in on a win at line six, leading 6-4, 5-4 before play stopped.

Cumberland will now have to wait and see if they receive a bid to the National Tournament.
