The Phoenix responded with a gutsy performance from Gabriel Godoy at No. 5, as he won a tight tiebreak in the first set before closing out the match 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 to pull CU within one. Wessels followed with a three-set battle at No. 1, outlasting Piero Fernandez 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 to even the match at 3-3.

With the season on the line, the deciding point came down to court six. Parada forced a third set after dropping the first, but ultimately fell 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 to Gonzalo Fernandez, sealing the narrow win for Southeastern.

Cumberland closes the 2025 season with a hard-fought performance on the national stage. The Phoenix end the year with a 15-10 record. The Phoenix reached their highest ranking in program history in the ITA rankings at No. 5 and won their first game at nationals since 2019.
