OAKLAND CITY, Ind.--Cumberland bounced back from a slow start to take down Oakland City in four sets on Tuesday night, earning a 3-1 victory at the Johnson Center. The win marks the Phoenix's 10th of the season and was highlighted by a career night from Lila Cade, who posted a career-high 27 digs.

Cumberland (10-3) finished with 45 kills, 43 assists, eight aces, 90 digs, and 12 total blocks, hitting .146 as a team. Cade led the defense with her career-high 27 digs, while setter Carlee Rogers dished out a career-best 34 assists and added 10 digs. Hazel Konkel paced the attack with 12 kills on an efficient .480 hitting percentage, while Haley Mitchell matched her with 12 kills and added four blocks. Alei Roper chipped in seven kills on .300 hitting, and Sydney Andrews served three aces. Morgan Snead also finished 22 digs to help control the Oakland City attack.

Oakland City (3-1) was held to a .077 hitting percentage, finishing with 40 kills, 39 assists, four aces, and 93 digs. Eva Hamann led the Mighty Oaks with 12 kills and nine digs, while Elleanor Stark contributed seven kills and 18 digs. Libby Mehringer added 23 assists and 10 digs, and Julianna Rettig anchored the back row with a match-high 30 digs.

The Phoenix opened the match trading points with Oakland City before the Mighty Oaks seized control midway through. Despite four kills from Mitchell and steady setting from Rogers, Cumberland couldn't overcome seven attack errors and dropped the opener 25-18.

Cumberland regrouped quickly, racing out to a 3-0 lead behind strong serving from Andrews. Konkel and Cade helped spark the offense as the Phoenix hit .130 in the frame. The Phoenix built a cushion late, pulling away to a 25-19 win that evened the match.

Momentum swung firmly in Cumberland's favor in the third set. Cade dropped in a service ace early, and Mitchell and Konkel combined for seven kills in the frame. A 4-0 run midway through gave the Phoenix breathing room, and Roper capped the set with a kill that sealed a 25-20 victory.

Cumberland dominated from the start in the fourth, jumping out to a 4-0 lead thanks to back-to-back aces from Andrews. Cade and Konkel controlled the back line, while Rogers spread the offense efficiently. The Phoenix limited Oakland City to a -.059 hitting percentage in the frame and finished the match with a 25-18 win.

Cumberland will now get ready for a trip to Grand Rapids, Michigan as CU will take part in the Aquinas/Cornerstone Invite. The Phoenix will be at Aquinas on Friday to take on Olivet Nazarene for the second time this season and the host and 15th-ranked Saints. CU will be at Cornerstone on Saturday.
