Volleyball Fall in Closely Fought Battle Against Reinhardt

Marietta, Ga. - - Cumberland went toe to toe with Reinhardt for the full five sets, however, fell short right at the end losing 3-2. 

Cumberland was led offensively by Joao Infante, who recorded a match-high 19 kills to go along with nine digs and three total blocks, pacing the Phoenix attack throughout the five-set battle. Austin Kuehler added a double-double performance with 10 kills and a team-high 42 assists, while also posting Cumberland's top hitting percentage at .429. Nage Hendrickson was efficient at the net, finishing with a .400 hitting percentage, and Frederick Amegbletor contributed eight kills while hitting .353. Defensively, Francesco Corradini anchored the front row with a match-best 11 total blocks, helping Cumberland remain competitive at the net throughout the match.

Cumberland opened the match with a tightly contested first set, trading points early before pulling ahead late. The Phoenix built momentum behind steady offensive production from Austin Kuehler and Joao Infante, while a key block by Zendai Richards and Francesco Corradini helped slow Reinhardt's attack during the closing stretch. Despite Reinhardt staying within striking distance, Cumberland closed the set on strong side out play to secure the 25–22 win.

Reinhardt responded in the second set by using an early scoring run to create separation. Cumberland remained within reach by applying steady offensive pressure, but Reinhardt maintained control of the set. The Eagles secured the final points to take the set 25–21 and even the match.

Cumberland regained momentum in the third set during a back-and-forth battle that featured multiple lead changes. The Phoenix found success offensively behind Nage Hendrickson and Joao Infante, helping Cumberland create late separation. Reinhardt made a push to close the gap, but Cumberland held on to secure the 25–23 set victory and take back the match advantage.

Reinhardt took control early in the fourth set, building a small lead that Cumberland worked to close. The Phoenix responded with steady offensive production, including multiple late points that kept the set tight. Despite Cumberland narrowing the gap late, Reinhardt secured the final points to claim the set 25–23 and force a decisive fifth set.

The final set featured another close battle, with both teams exchanging points and lead changes throughout. Cumberland remained within one point for much of the set behind strong net play from Zendai Richards and Austin Kuehler, but Reinhardt was able to create a slight separation late. The Eagles closed out the match with a 19–17 win to secure the victory.

The Phoenix will dust themsleve's off and go again tomorrow as they face Life University at 3PM.
