Faulkner Ends Phoenix's Unbeaten Run in 2-0 Upending

LEBANON, Tenn. - - Cumberland men's soccer fell 2-0 to No. 5 Faulkner on Tuesday afternoon at Lindsey Donnell Stadium.

The Phoenix faced early pressure, but goalkeeper Pau Gelabert kept the visitors off the scoreboard by saving a penalty kick from Angel Ugwumba just over six minutes into the contest. Cumberland remained level through the opening half, with Gelabert making two saves before the break.

Faulkner broke through in the 59th minute when Ugwumba found the net off assists from Leo Freire and Asaph Silveira. The Phoenix pushed for an equalizer, recording 11 shots and six on target, but Faulkner goalkeeper Andre Ferreira made six saves to secure the shutout.

After Jostin Angel was sent off in the 82nd minute, Faulkner capitalized on the numerical advantage, with Konsti Witte adding a second goal in the 83rd minute to seal the 2-0 result.

Cumberland moves to 9-1-4 overall and 3-0-2 in conference play. The Phoenix will be back in action for their conference and regular season finale this Saturday, taking on Campbellsville for Senior Day.
