Cumberland Football Receiving Votes In New NAIA Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. --  The Phoenix dropped out of the top 25, but is still receiving votes after falling to Georgetown on Homecoming, the league announced on Monday.

Cumberland (3-2, 0-1) falls out of the top 25; however, CU is still receiving votes after losing to Georgetown College 21-19 on Saturday. Jordan Cason led the Phoenix rushing attack, getting 105 yards rushing on 21 rushes, while Jake Parker was productive through the air, completing 13 of his 20 passes for 162 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, the Phoenix were stout, allowing 167 yards from the Tigers. 

College of Idaho is leading the rankings, followed by Keiser (Fla.) and Indiana Wesleyan to round out the top three.

Within the Mid-South, Lindsey Wilson is leading all teams within the conference at No. 11, after the Blue Raiders defeated now No. 13 Campbellsville. After beating the Phoenix, Georgetown moves up two spots to No. 22. Cumberland is joined by the Cumberlands in the Receiving Votes category.

The Phoenix are looking to bounce back and get back into the winning column as they head south to face off against Andrew College on Saturday, October 10th at 2:00 PM CT.
