ATHENS, Ala. - - Cumberland University's men's golf team finished sixth at the FireHawk Fall Invitational after carding a final-round score of eight-over-par 296 on Tuesday. The Phoenix finished the tournament at 13-over-par, totaling 877 strokes across three rounds.
Cumberland opened the tournament with a four-over-par 292 before improving to one-over-par 289 in the second round. The Phoenix entered the final round in fifth place but slipped to sixth following Tuesday's competition.
Callum Hook led Cumberland's individual effort, finishing the tournament at even-par and tied for 11th place. Hook carded rounds of 72, 71 and 73 for a three-round total of 216. After opening his final round with an even-par front nine, Hook finished with a one-over-par 37 on the back nine.
Gustav Fredriksson also finished inside the top 15, placing 14th overall at one-over-par. Fredriksson posted rounds of 74, 70 and 73 for a total of 217 strokes. His second-round 70 was the lowest individual round of the tournament for the Phoenix.
Egan Hadelman finished tied for 21st at four-over-par after recording rounds of 70, 75 and 75. Hadelman's opening-round 70 provided a strong start to his tournament, and he remained Cumberland's third-highest finisher.
Carter Stroup and Stefans Spruz both finished at 10-over-par. Stroup carded rounds of 77, 74 and 75, while Spruz recorded rounds of 76, 74 and 76. The pair finished tied for 40th overall. Competing as an individual, Federico Sandrolini finished at 14-over-par. Sandrolini opened with a 71 before recording rounds of 80 and 79 to finish the tournament with 230 strokes.
Cumberland will return to competition on September 28th and 29th at the Invite at Innisbrook.
