PULASKI, Tenn. -- No. 6 Cumberland men's soccer battled Tennessee Southern to a scoreless 0-0 draw Tuesday night, with both defenses keeping the opposing attacks off the scoreboard for all 90 minutes.

The Phoenix created several opportunities throughout the match, finishing with eight shots, including two on target. Luis Cerejo led Cumberland with three shots and put two on frame, while Mark Donaldson and Adrian Jogerst each added an attempt on goal.

Cumberland goalkeeper Pau Gelabert turned in a strong performance between the posts, recording one save to preserve the clean sheet, whilst commanding the defence from the back.

Tennessee Southern held a 13-8 advantage in shots and earned seven corner kicks compared to four for the Phoenix. However, Cumberland's defense limited the Firehawks to just one shot on goal.

The physical contest saw 32 total fouls between the two teams, with Cumberland being shown one yellow card and Tennessee Southern receiving five.

Neither team was able to break through in the opening 45 minutes, sending the match into halftime scoreless. The Phoenix continued to battle in the second half, ultimately remaining undefeated.

Cumberland returns to action Friday on the road against Freed-Hardeman, with kickoff scheduled for 4 p.m.
