LEBANON, Tenn. -- No. 3 Cumberland men's soccer returns to Mid-South Conference play this weekend, traveling to Freed-Hardeman as the Phoenix look to maintain their perfect start to conference action.

Cumberland enters the matchup with a 5-0-2 overall record and a 1-0 mark in conference play. The Phoenix opened MSC competition with a 3-1 victory over Bethel at home last Sunday before battling to a hard-fought 0-0 draw against UT Southern on Tuesday.

The Phoenix have outscored their opponents 22-9 this season, ranking tied for seventh nationally in goals scored.

Offensively, Cumberland is led by this week's Mid-South Conference Offensive Player of the Week, Luis Cerejo, who has tallied 17 points on six goals and five assists. He is joined by two previous conference Players of the Week in David Barbakadze and Wesley Mendoza. Barbakadze has recorded 15 points on six goals and three assists, while Mendoza has contributed 12 points with five goals and two assists.

Defensively, goalkeeper Pau Gelabert has been a consistent presence, starting all seven matches this season and recording 15 saves with a 0.625 save percentage.

Freed-Hardeman offense has relied on Noah Setterberg and Martin Theissen to provide the offensive spark for the Lions. Setterberg has recorded 10 points on four goals and two assists, while Theissen has added eight points with two goals and four assists.

In goal, Bourdon Gaspar has also made an impact, starting seven of his eight appearances. He has recorded 19 saves while conceding six goals, posting a 0.760 save percentage.

Historically, Cumberland has held the advantage in the series with 14 victories. The Phoenix enter the matchup riding a two-game winning streak against Freed-Hardeman and will look to extend that run this weekend.
