Cumberland Women’s Cross Country Crack Top Ten at Twilight Invitational

MARION, Ind. – The Cumberland University women's cross country team finished ninth as a team at the Twilight Invitational, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University, totaling 294 points.

Wendy Komane paced the Phoenix with a 22nd-place overall finish, crossing the line in 19:47.80. Komane was Cumberland's top finisher and finished inside the top 25 individually.

Alexa Rumpf followed for the Phoenix, placing 101st overall in 21:39.60. Jenna Towles finished just seconds behind her teammate Rumpf in 104th with a time of 21:44.20, while Channon Cundiff was 105th with a time of 21:45.80.

Alaina Chapman rounded out Cumberland's top five runners, finishing 117th overall in 22:01.40. Laykin Ellis placed 123rd in 22:18.40, followed by Karis Singleterry in 131st with a time of 22:46.30.

Indiana Wesleyan won the team competition with 53 points, followed by Rio Grande with 62 points and Grace with 81 points.

Running after the women's race had finished, the CU men's cross country team placed 12th, scoring 339 points in the 6K race.

Romulo Basso Filho led the Phoenix with a 45th-place overall finish, crossing the line in 19:42.00. Wilson Navarrete followed in 74th with a time of 20:10.10.

Collins Kibiwott continued a tight pack of runners who all crossed within the same minute, finishing 107th overall in 20:39.21, while Carter Crook placed 116th in 20:51.10. Dylan Hunter rounded out Cumberland's five scoring runners, finishing 171st with a time of 21:38.00.

Lukas Price finished 173rd overall in 21:39.40, followed by Garrett Tunks in 206th at 22:38.71. Conference rivals Cumberlands won the team competition with 34 points, followed by Indiana Wesleyan with 49 points and Rio Grande with 110 points.

The Phoenix cross country teams will have two weeks off before they compete at the Southern Showcase.
