Biography

Madison Pavan begins her first year as a graduate assistant with the Bulldog volleyball program in January 2014.

Pavan was a four-year basketball letterwinner at Cumberland for coach Jeremy Lewis, playing in 63 career games. She was a member of the 2012-13 squad that won the Mid-South Conference regular season and tournament titles, reaching the Fab Four at the NAIA National Tournament.

The Parkersburg, W.Va., native was a three-time Conference Scholar-Athlete award winner – twice in the TranSouth Conference and her senior season in the Mid-South Conference – and was the team’s NAIA Champions of Character Award winner in her final year.

At Cumberland Pavan was a member of the Kappa Delta Pie Education Honors Society, serving as Secretary during her senior year, along with Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honors Society. She was also a St. Jude’s marketing and recruiting representative while at CU.

Pavan was a student teacher at Sam Houston Elementary in Lebanon, Tenn., planning and scheduling lessons, activities, stations and math tasks while making special accommodations for behavioral students as well as hearing-impaired students.

Pavan received her bachelor’s in Child Growth and Learning from Cumberland in December 2013 and is currently enrolled in the master’s program in Education at CU.

2011-12 (JUNIOR): Named TranSouth Conference Scholar-Athlete … Saw action in 21 games, all off the bench, posting 1.4 points and 0.5 assists per outing … Made one 3-pointer and scored five points in season opener versus Fisk University … Scored five points with one trifecta against the University of the Cumberlands … Connected on pair of 3-pointers and posted season-best 11 points versus Blue Mountain … Scored two points in season-high 25 minutes against Oakwood University.

2010-11 (SOPHOMORE): Named TranSouth Scholar-Athlete … Played in 18 contests, averaging 1.7 points, 0.4 rebounds and 0.3 assists in 8.1 minutes per game … Netted nine points, hitting all three 3-point attempts, at Oakwood Univ. in season opener … Made both free throws at Bryan College and had one bucket at Blue Mountain … Recorded six points on a pair of 3-pointers and handed out two assists versus Mid-Continent in season-high 22 minutes … Grabbed four rebounds at Bethel Univ. … Hit two 3-pointers for six points against Martin Methodist … Collected three points and two assists versus Blue Mountain and made both free throws at Mid-Continent.

2009-10 (FRESHMAN): Played in 11 games, averaging 7.6 minutes per outing … Scored one basket during the season, a three-pointer at top-ranked Union Univ. in February … Made one free throw versus Mid-Continent in March … Played 20 minutes at Fisk Univ., 15 at Blue Mountain and 11 at 15th-ranked Freed-Hardeman … Grabbed one rebound in four contests and totaled five blocks for the year.

HIGH SCHOOL: Two-year captain for coach Kenny DeMoss at Parkersburg HS in Parkersburg, W.Va. … Averaged five points and three assists per game as senior … Scored five points in Battle Against Cystic Fibrosis All-Star Game … Finished third in MSAC Night of Champions Free Throw Contest.
