Daniel Buratto

Daniel Buratto is entering his second season as Pitching Coach for Cumberland University baseball after making an immediate impact in his first year with the program. In 2024, Buratto’s staff posted a 5.06 ERA and a 1.43 WHIP while recording six shutouts,  one of the top marks in the Mid-South Conference and producing multiple All-Conference honorees. He also guided senior right-hander Carter Rost to NAIA All-American honors after a stellar 10–0 season with a 2.31 ERA, anchoring the Phoenix pitching rotation and helping lead the team to a strong conference tournament run.

Buratto came to Cumberland after a standout four-year tenure as Pitching Coach at Santa Barbara City College (2020–2024), where his teams consistently ranked among the top 10 in California for ERA, including a second-place finish in 2023 and fifth in 2024. During his time at SBCC, the Vaqueros won back-to-back conference titles, produced consecutive Conference Pitchers of the Year, and advanced to consecutive Super Regionals.

In addition to his collegiate achievements, Buratto has coached in two premier summer leagues, the Northwoods League with the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (2022) and the West Coast League with the Ridgefield Raptors (2021). Managing pitching staffs, setting rotations, and leveraging advanced tools such as Trackman, Synergy, and Rapsodo for player development and scouting.

A former NCAA Division I pitcher at Bowling Green State University, Buratto began his coaching career at Dos Pueblos High School in California before quickly advancing into the collegiate and summer ball ranks. His coaching philosophy blends modern, data-driven strategies with a strong emphasis on fundamentals, preparation, and competitive toughness.

Buratto holds a B.A. in Individualized Studies with a focus on Historical and Social Geography from Bowling Green State University and an A.A. in Liberal Arts Math and Science from Santa Barbara City College.
