Harley Dixon

Harley Dixon has begins his first year as the Assistant Sports Information Director at Cumberland University in 2025-26 after serving two years as a graduate assistant in the Sports Information office. He is responsible for a variety of professional tasks related to the planning, organization, operation, and management of the marketing, promotion, and sports information/media relations of the athletic department.

Dixon, a South Portsmouth, Ky., native, has spent the past two years serving as a graduate assistant within the Cumberland Sports Information Office, contributing heavily to the department’s daily operations, event coverage, and digital media efforts. Dixon is responsible for the upkeep of the athletic website which includes updating bios and statistics for the more than 700 current student-athletes at Cumberland. The Sports Information Department staff continues to add historical information found through research and sorting through old documents, including rosters, schedules, results, and awards.

Since arriving at Cumberland in 2023, Dixon has taken on a wide range of responsibilities, including managing sports information duties for all sports, writing recaps and previews, compiling game and season statistics, and producing engaging content for the department’s social media channels. He played a key role in our broadcast efforts and digital storytelling, and helped expand the reach of Cumberland Athletics online.

In his first year at CU, Dixon received national recognition with a seventh-place finish in the NAIA-SIDA Publications Contest for his men's soccer season preview. His ability to blend writing, creativity, and technical skill has made him a valuable asset to the university’s athletic communications efforts.

Prior to joining Cumberland, Dixon completed his undergraduate degree at Shawnee State University, where he was a member of the men’s tennis team. He also assisted with the men's and women's soccer programs and worked in the sports information office. During his time at Shawnee State, Dixon co-hosted a weekly athletics podcast with former Athletic Director Jeff Hamilton, which highlighted standout athletes and athletic accomplishments across the university.

Dixon earned his Bachelor of Science in Sport Management from Shawnee State in 2023 and completed his Master’s Degree in Sports Management from Cumberland University in May 2025.
