Cumberland University

Lexi Deguzman

Deguzman begins her second year at Cumberland University as she is a part of the everyday happenings in athletic training but specializes in wrestling, while having a secondary focus in football and band.

Deguzman arrives at Cumberland straight from her graduate program at Old Dominion University. She received her Master's of Science of Athletic Training in May of this year, as well as previously graduating with her Bachelor's in Physical Education from ODU.

Her experiences are heavily focused in college athletics as she was on staff with two different NCAA Division I programs. Her initial experience came at her alma mater, working with women's lacrosse and football during her undergraduate program. Following that she compounded on her experiences in grad school with William and Mary University, where she was assigned to work with their football team.

Deguzman has Clinical Experience at the Children's Hospital of King's Daughter Sports Medicine in Norfolk, Virginia. At the hospital she performed clinical evaluations and plans of care for upper and lower extremity injuries.

Speaking on her newest hire, Dr. Arnold said, "It's great to bring Lexi onboard this year! Working at the college level like she has, she will help us excel here at Cumberland."
