Phoenix Fall in Three Straight to Lindsey Wilson

Lebanon, Tenn.-- Long rallies from the Blue Raiders sends them over Cumberland in a three-set decision at the Dallas Floyd Phoenix Arena.
Lauren Galvan had a solid night for CU to lead all players with 12 kills, six of which came in the deciding set. Elaine Shaneyfelt and Kaleigh Glass played strong defense, registering 12 and 11 digs respectively. Emma Chavers was just shy of a double-double as she contributed 27 assists and eight digs.
Lindsey Wilson's win was supported by three players recording double-figure digs with Alessia Bergesio going for a game-high 16. 
Despite earning the first kill of the game, the Phoenix were challenged with overcoming a disadvantage as Lindsey Wilson rallied four straight points early in the first set. 
An errorless offense kept the Blue Raiders at a distance through the middle stages, but back-to-back blocks from Hazel Konkel lit CU's fire and cut the deficit to one. A competitive final push sent the set into extra points as a trio of Cumberland kills knotted the score at 24-24. After recollecting in a timeout, the Blue Raiders collected consecutive kills to claim the exciting set 27-25.
The Blue Raiders had another hot start in the second as they built a 9-4 edge. Having swiftly responded to all of CU's runs, the Blue Raiders continued to climb and expanded their lead as far as seven points. With the help of four aces and 13 kills, Lindsey Wilson cruised to a 25-18 victory.
Galvan collected three untouched kills in the first six points of set three to inspire some much needed energy in the Phoenix. The Blue Raiders swiftly countered the host's attacks, however, and administered a series of blocks to create a 12-6 lead. 
Facing a 19-10 deficit, Glass delivered six straight serves- picking up two aces in the process- to make for a four point contest. The Phoenix brought it down to the wire in hopes to avoid the sweep, but Lindsey Wilson connected on their last two swings to complete the 25-23 ending. 
The Phoenix will have their final home match of the season this Thursday when they host Campbellsville at 6 PM.
