Victor Ramirez each added one apiece.
Cumberland outshot the Lions 18-to-7 in the match. The Phoenix put nine shots on goal while Freed-Hardeman was able to get three. Cumberland keeper

Within 90 seconds of the match starting, Cumberland was able to get the offense going as Tighe played a through ball to Azar in the box. Azar crossed it to Lyons and he buried it home to give the Phoenix a 1-0 lead early. The goal was Lyons' second goal this season.
Cumberland was held at bay for the next 40 minutes, but just before the half ended Azar played the ball up to Ramirez and Ramirez centered allowing Stanley to score and extend the lead to 2-0 at the break. The goal was Stanley's first goal this season in just his second match back from injury.
The second half came and went as neither team could find a goal. Lyons had a good opportunity that went off the crossbar,
Brima Kamara had an opportunity one-on-one with the keeper, and Cumberland had a few chances on set pieces, but Freed-Hardeman did not allow it to get pushed out any further.
In the closing minutes of the match, the Lions made a push rattling off five shots and two on goal that McCarthy saved to keep the clean sheet.
Cumberland will be in action this Wednesday as they travel to Campbellsville to take on the Tigers in Mid-South Conference action. The match is slated to start at 7:00 p.m.
