No. 9 Cumberland dominates No. 4 Campbellsville on the Road

LEBANON, Tenn.--Ninth-ranked Cumberland dominates No. 4 Campbellsville on the road leading the entire way for a 27-13 win. 

Cumberland (7-1) continues a strong campaign with their first Top 5 win of the season defeating 4th-ranked Campbellsville (13-3) for a big conference win. 

The Phoenix jumped out on the Tigers early as Chris Busutil picked up a tech fall at 125 and Ellis Haney followed with a pin at 133 for a big 11-0 lead. The Phoenix never looked back from that point on going on for a dominant win. 

At 141, #13 Nicholas Yancey and #8 Jared Dinh battled it out, but Yancey edged Dinh with a takedown in the closing seconds to secured a close 14-12 decision and chip away at the Phoenix lead 11-3. 

#13 Victor Guzman continues his tear with another ranker win beating #15 Nick Moore with a 8-4 decision, extending Cumberland's lead to 14-3.

A huge match took place at 157, where sixth-ranked 149 lb wrestler Jack Latimer claimed a thrilling 4-3 decision over #3 Antwuan Burns, solidifying Cumberland's dominance at 17-3.

#4 Shadrick Slone rebounded for Campbellsville with a strong 14-3 major decision over Cameron Nesbitt, but #3 Cole Smith picked it right back up with a dominant 15-5 major decision over #10 Gabe Martinez. Cumberland pushed their lead to 21-7.

At 184, #19 Rocco Horvath fought hard for a 4-3 decision over Kiernan Sherwood, putting Cumberland at 24-7 sealing the win with two bouts left.

Tyler Rowland (CU) added to the excitement with a thrilling 4-3 victory in tiebreakers over Joel Hatchett, putting the final points on the board for Cumberland.

The final bout at 285 saw #8 Gabe Craig (CAMP) delivering a fall in 1:08 against Evan Huling concluding with a final score of Cumberland 27, Campbellsville 13.

The Phoenix have another ranked Mid-South Conference match on the road this upcoming Thursday as they will travel to No. 13 Lindsey Wilson for a dual.
