Jones, Martina, and Ikezoe each Score Two in Cumberland's 7-0 Win at Freed-Hardeman

HENDERSON, Tenn.--16th-ranked women's soccer stays hot to beat Freed-Hardeman on the road 7-0 in conference action.

Cumberland (10-3, 2-1 MSC) had a dominant showing on the road firing off 38 shots with 21 on goal while holding the Lady Lions to just two shots all game. Gabby Jones, Kadisha Martina, and Seika Ikezoe each netted a pair of goals while Ao Yamada scored the other.

The Phoenix opened the scoring early in the 11th minute when Kadisha Martina slotted the ball into the bottom left corner with a well-placed right-footed shot, giving Cumberland a 1-0 lead.

Ten minutes later, Ao Yamada doubled the lead with a powerful right-footed strike to the top right corner, pushing the score to 2-0 as the Phoenix carried a comfortable advantage into halftime.

In the second half, Cumberland picked up right where they left off. Seika Ikezoe added to the tally in the 54th minute, calmly finishing into the bottom center of the goal with her right foot. Just five minutes later, Gabby Jones scored her first of two goals, placing her shot into the bottom right corner to make it 4-0.

Jones wasn't done yet—she struck again in the 64th minute, this time assisted by Ella Tuplin, for her second of the day, increasing the lead to 5-0.

The Phoenix offense kept rolling as Ikezoe added her second goal of the match in the 71st minute, finishing off a beautiful assist from Emelly Chicas with a shot to the top right corner. The scoring was capped in the 88th minute when Martina netted her second of the match securing the 7-0 victory.

Cumberland will be back in action this upcoming Friday as they take on Mid-South Conference rival and No. 1 University of the Cumberlands Patriots in Williamsburg.
