LEBANON, TENN.-- Cumberland Men's Soccer secures the victory against Campbellsville 3-0.

The Phoenix and Tigers got underway with a strong defensive half by both teams, as neither allowed a shot on goal until late in the first. The Phoenix did see some opportunities inside the box, attempting three shots in the first 25 minutes of play. Cumberland put the first shot on goal, coming from Philipp Schmidtke. 

In the 39th minute, Marcos Perez got the Phoenix on the board after Rune Peterson dribbled around three defenders in the box and passed it to Victor Ramirez directly right back to Perez for the Phoenix lead 1-0. 

Perez scored his second goal of the game after an assist from Brima Kamara, securing his fifth goal of the season. The second half, similar to the first half, was a defensive game from both the Phoenix and the Tigers. Cumberland still managed to have seven shots on the board with 20 minutes left to play.

Rune Peterson scored the last goal of the game, putting on a beautiful display of ball control right in front of the goal, rounding the keeper and scoring to put the Phoenix on top of the Tigers of Campbellsville 3-0. 

The Phoenix did not give up a shot on goal the whole game and recorded seven shots on goal themselves. The Phoenix came out with the victory 3-0 after a very strong defensive performance. 


The Phoenix are back in action in Lebanon, Tenn. October 9, against Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College  at 3:00 PM.
