WILLIAMSBURG, Ky.--Cumberland Wrestling opened up their 2024-25 campaign at the Pepsi Patriot Open in Williamsburg. The Phoenix had one wrestler place on the podium as Aslan Nadeau finished in second in the 125 freshman/sophomore division.

Jared Dinh made a significant impact in the Open 149 weight class, advancing to the quarterfinals with three tech falls.

Victor Guzman, also competing in the Open 149 division, had a strong showing with three consecutive wins, including a major decision. Elijah Griffin advanced to the quarterfinals before dropping his next two matches in the same weight class. 

Rocco Horvath lost his opener, but rattled off four-straight wins at 184 in the consolation rounds. 

Aslan Nadeau stood out in the Fresh/Soph 133 weight class, finishing second after a remarkable day that included three victories, two by fall. His performance contributed 21.5 points to the team total.

In the Fresh/Soph 165 class, Seth Lindsey recorded five wins, showcasing his skills with a mix of tech fall and major decision victories. He finished with 9.5 points despite facing tough competition later in the tournament.

Other noteworthy performances came from Truth Vesey in the Open 125 weight class, who notched two wins. Ellis Otting in the Fresh/Soph 157 class, also secured multiple victories.

The Phoenix will go again next Sunday at the Georgia Open at Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs.
