LEBANON, Tenn.-- Women's Volleyball Thrive and Advance to the Semifinals after Impressive Win Against Georgetown
The Phoenix dominated the Tigers of Georgetown in the Quarters and recorded four players with six kills a piece to combine for 18. Hazel Konkel, Alei Roper, Haley Mitchell, and Hailey Jones all recorded the six kills a piece. 
Lila Cade had an extraordinary performance serving the ball with seven service aces. Konkel led with six blocks, and Manoella Gomes led the Phoenix with 12 assists. Emma Chavers had a leading performance in the dig column recording 11 with Morgan Snead right behind her with 9. 
The Phoenix opened set one back and forth with the Tigers until the Phoenix found some rhythm. CU went on a 4-0 run to make the score 7-4 for Cumberland. Both teams struggled with some attack errors but the Phoenix went on another 4-0 run to increase their lead by four at 13-9 which was led by a massive kill by 
Alei Roper. The Phoenix went a few more runs to increase their lead in the first set which was highlighted by several 
Haley Mitchell kills and 
Hazel Konkel's defensive efforts. Cumberland ended the first set with a 25-17 win on a 5-0 run to start 1-0.
Cumberland started set two with a lot of small runs that had the Phoenix leading by seven points at 12-5. Set two was nothing but the Phoenix. Hailey Jones had some big kills to extend the lead 19-10 which was also led by more kills and defensive efforts by Konkel. CU finished set two with a huge 8-0 run that was well distributed with kills from Konkel, Mitchell, Roper and an ace by Lila Cade to secure the win in set two 25-11 to make it 2-0.
Set three started by the Phoenix and the Tigers trading points and two lead changes but the Phoenix went on a massive 10-0 run to increase their lead to 11-2 led by a Cade kill and two aces by Cade. The Tigers tried and went on a 3-0 run but it ended with a service error by Gareth Bruce. Cumberland went on another 8-1 run that extended the lead 20-6 leading by 14 points. The runs were led by attack errors and huge aces by Nicole Roeder and Elaine Shaneyfelt. The Tigers went on a 4-0 run that erased the deficit by a little bit making the score 22-12 with the Phoenix still in control. The Phoenix rallied on a 4-0 run to head to the semifinals after a set three and 3-0 victory against Georgetown 25-12.
The Phoenix will play Lindsey Wilson College in the Semifinals on Friday, Nov. 8 in Bowling Green, Ky.
