Women's Soccer Advances to Semifinals after 5-0 Victory Against Georgetown

LEBANON, Tenn.-- Cumberland Women's Soccer Advance to the Semifinals after defeating Georgetown College 5-0.

Cumberland defeats the Tigers of Georgetown College by a score of 5-0. The Phoenix advanced to the semifinals. Cumberland recorded 27 shots and 15 shots on goal with Gabby Jones recording a two goal match to give her a brace.

The Phoenix got out to a fast start controlling possession for the first 10 minutes of the game and Kadisha Martina got the Phoenix on the board in the 21st minute of the first half after dribbling around a couple of defenders and drilling a shot onto the back post from right inside of the box.
Gabby Jones quickly got the Phoenix a 2-0 lead after making a couple of moves inside of the box and found herself with the keeper one on one for a CU goal.

Seika Ikezoe scored the third goal of the day for the Phoenix with an assist by Martina into the box where Ikezoe had enough time to set up her 14th goal of the season. Cumberland stayed aggressive adding another shot on goal quickly after the three goals that were scored early.

With nine minutes left until the half, the Phoenix had recorded 10 total shots at six shots on goal. Ikezoe found Kaylie Torrens with a pass across the box and Torrens put it right in for Torrens third goal of the year, and a 4-0 lead against the Tigers of Georgetown at the half.

Cumberland came out firing to try and completely put the game away recording three more shots on goal to total them at nine. With 25 minutes to play, the Phoenix total 17 shots and the Tigers total one shot.

Gabby Jones scored her second goal of the game to secure her brace and her 18th goal of the season. Jones scored by a cross from Ao Yamada and dribbled around a couple of Tigers defenders for the brace to extend the lead to 5-0.

The Phoenix still controlled the game offensively in the second half even though they only scored one goal.

The Phoenix will play at University of the Cumberlands on Monday at 5:30 PM against the winner of Campbellsville University and Freed-Hardeman University.
