Tarpley garners MSC Defensive Player of the Week honors

LEBANON, Tenn.--Sophomore Emaleigh Tarpley earns Mid-South Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors, announced on Monday by conference officials. 

Tarpley helped lead the Phoenix to two wins including a double overtime win over Tennessee Southern and home victory versus Life to run the Phoenix's win streak to five. Tarpley posted double-doubles in both outings to now run her double-double streak to four consecutive games and six on the season. 

Tarpley averaged 17.0 points per game with 15.0 boards. She led the team in points and rebounds against the Firehawks posting 18 points and a career-high 20 rebounds with one steal and a block. She added in 16 points against Life and 10 boards with three steals.

This season, Tarpley is averaging 11.3 points per game and 9.9 rebounds per game. She leads the Mid-South Conference in rebounds with 129. 

The honor is Tarpley's first Mid-South Conference Player of the Week honor of the season and of her career. She is the first Cumberland Women's Basketball player to earn Defensive Player of the Week honors.
