Women's Soccer Rain in Six Goals on the Road at Bethel

MCKENZIE, Tenn. - - The Cumberland women's soccer team hit the road to take on the Bethel Wildcats and put a flurry of goals in the back of the net, winning 6-1.

The home-side Wildcats had several shots in the first ten minutes of the game, but it did not take long before the Phoenix asserted themselves. In the 12th minute Seika Stull delivered a cross to the second post and Olga Wallemo buried her shot in the back of the net, the first goal of many on the day for Cumberland.

Five minutes later the Phoenix won a free kick and Kadisha Martina smashed her attempt from range off of the bar, landing at the feet of the Swede for her second of the day. Wrapping up scoring in the first half, Adelyn Drane came off the bench and led the Cumberland attack straight away, only being stopped by a strong tackle in the box, though she was awarded with a penalty for her efforts.

Drane stepped up to take the penalty herself and placed her shot perfectly in the bottom left corner of the net, solidifying the 3-0 that CU took into the break.

Kadisha Martina opened the scoring in the second half as she chased down a long ball from Seika Stull and increased the Phoenix lead to 4-0. Running away with the lead, Miku Kayama and Victoria Collins both added one each onto the score, though the Wildcats got one back for themselves, making it 6-1.

Cumberland outshot Bethel 16 shots to the Wildcats 7, while also putting ten more shots on goal than the home side.

The Phoenix will now return back home to Lebanon for a Senior Day matchup against Freed-Hardeman University on October 14th.
