Martina’s Hat Trick Powers Phoenix Past Georgetown, 6-0

LEBANON, Tenn.--Cumberland women's soccer turned in a dominant performance Monday afternoon, rolling past Georgetown, 6-0, at Lindsey Donnell Stadium for their fourth Mid-South Conference win of the season.

The Phoenix (11-3-1, 4-0-1 MSC) overwhelmed the Tigers (6-8-1, 1-5-0) from the opening whistle, outshooting them 30-3 and controlling possession throughout the match. Cumberland poured in three goals in each half to secure their sixth shutout of the year.

Victoria Collins opened the scoring in the 13th minute, finishing a setup from Sky Hull to put the Phoenix in front early. Just four minutes later, Collins struck again off an assist from Klara Björkman to double the advantage. Kadisha Martina made it 3-0 in the 20th minute, finding the back of the net with help from Seika Stull and Uxia Varela.

Cumberland kept its foot on the gas in the second half. Ali Cole notched her first goal of the season in the 71st minute scoring a banger from deep. Martina took over from there, scoring twice in a three-minute stretch to complete her hat trick. Stull and Miku Kayama assisted on Martina's second goal before Adelyn Drane set up her third to cap the scoring in the 80th minute.

Martina's hat trick was her first of the season. It is her third multi-goal game and her fifth goal in the last two games after scoring a brace against Freed-Hardeman. Collins also added her third multi-goal match of the year. Stull tallied a team-high three assists as the Phoenix registered 14 shots on target.

Celia Martin earned the shutout in goal, though she wasn't tested. Georgetown failed to put a shot on goal in 90 minutes of play. Georgetown keeper Olivia York made eight saves in the game.

Cumberland will hit the road on Friday for their final match of the regular season. The Phoenix will take on Campbellsville at 6:00 p.m. eastern time.

With the win, Cumberland grabs three points for 13 on the season and sole possession of first place. Friday's match, the Phoenix will look for a chance to lock up the No. 1 seed in the Mid-South Conference Championship. Lindsey Wilson sits in second place with 10 points. The Blue Raiders have two matches this week against Bethel and Freed-Hardeman.
