LEBANON, Tenn.--It's senior night for Cumberland Women's Volleyball as they are set to host Mid-South rival Campbellsville.
The Phoenix (24-12, 6-5 MSC) are coming off of a loss against the No. 10 Cumberlands 3-0 and are sitting fourth in the MSC standings heading into the final match.
Cumberland is led by sophomore outside hitter Lila Cade, who has earned 398 kills (second in the conference), 2.99 kills per set (fifth in the conference), 461 points (second in the conference), 410 digs (fourth in the conference) and 847 receptions (first in the conference) on a .952 reception percentage. Senior Morgan Snead is having an impressive season wearing the libero jersey. Snead currently has 434 kills (third in the conference), 3.34 digs per set (fifth in the conference), and 692 receptions (third in the conference) on a .911 reception percentage. Senior middle hitter Hazel Konkel has been one of the best two-way players in the conference with 239 kills (fifth in the conference) on a .343 hitting percentage (third in the conference) and 127 blocks (first in the conference).
For the Tigers (20-13, 7-4 MSC), they are also coming off of a loss on the road, as they were swept by Lindsey Wilson 3-0. Campbellsville is led by junior Elif Akcivi, where the Turkish outside hitter has earned 264 kills (fifth in the conference) and 315.5 points (sixth in the conference). Freshman setter Kati Vest has been their primary assist getter, where Vest has earned 1010 assists and 9.1 assists per second (both are second in the conference). Freshman libero Maddie Pennington has been leading the tiger defense, as the Nashville native has collected 443 digs (second in the conference), and 563 receptions (sixth in the conference) on a .934 reception percentage.
In the all-time series, Cumberland has a record of 9-29 against Campbellsville, but the Phoenix have won the last two matches, including a four set win on the road at Gosser Gym. When the Phoenix are at home against Campbellsville, they have a record of 4-13.
This match has major playoff implications, because Campbellsville is sitting one game ahead of Cumberland, but the Phoenix currently have the head-to-head tiebreaker. If the Phoenix are able to win, they would be the No. 3 seed. However if they lose, they will stay at the No. 4 seed.
This will be Cumberland's senior night and will be honoring the women who have dedicated their college careers to Cumberland and representing Cumberland in every way.
