Phoenix Excel in the Classroom with 3.153 Department GPA this Fall

LEBANON, Tenn.--Cumberland University Athletics continued to demonstrate its commitment to academic excellence during the fall semester, posting a 3.153 departmental term GPA across all athletic programs. Cumberland student-athletes also combined for a 3.281 cumulative GPA while completing more than 34,000 term credit hours.

A total of 127 student-athletes earned a perfect 4.0 GPA during the fall term, with several programs producing double-digit totals. ESports led the department with 27 student-athletes recording a 4.0, followed by Women's Volleyball with 14 and Football with 13. Women's Soccer also reached double figures with 10 perfect GPAs, continuing the program's strong academic tradition.

18 Phoenix programs registered above a 3.0 GPA this semester. Men's Golf led all programs with an outstanding 3.805 term GPA, followed closely by Women's Golf at 3.800 and Women's Tennis at 3.755. Women's Volleyball also delivered an exceptional semester with a 3.696 GPA, while Men's Cross Country posted a 3.664.

Several additional programs surpassed the 3.5 mark, including Women's Bowling (3.627), Men's Volleyball (3.619), Softball (3.596), Women's Soccer (3.465), Women's Cross Country (3.397), Men's Bowling (3.407), Women's Track and Field (3.380), and Men's Tennis (3.373).

Programs continuing their strong academic performances above the 3.0 benchmark included Wrestling (3.165), Men's Soccer (3.180), Women's Flag Football (3.098), ESports (3.049), and Baseball (3.023).

Cumberland Athletics finished the fall semester with 746 student-athletes represented across its programs, reinforcing a department-wide culture of academic accountability and achievement. The Phoenix continue to uphold a standard of excellence that extends well beyond competition and into the classroom.
