Women's Basketball Falls Against Lindsey Wilson on Senior Day

LEBANON, Tenn. - - Women's Basketball Drop Last Home Game Against Lindsey Wilson.

The Phoenix started fast on senior day with a quick Faith Colston jumper to score the first basket of the game. Cumberland went back and forth with the Blue Raiders with Emaleigh Tarpley playing well offensively and defensively with three rebounds, two steals, and an assist along with four points. The Phoenix ended the first quarter with a made three by Kayla Gordon and a made layup by Jordan Harris that tied the game at 15 all. 

Ever Walker started the second quarter with a three to bring the Phoenix to a 18-17 lead. The Blue Raiders went on a small run and took the lead on Cumberland. CU brought it back within two points but then Lindsey Wilson went on a six point run and started to pull ahead with their biggest lead of the day at 31-23. The Phoenix played well on the defensive end not allowing any points in the last three minutes but went on a five to nothing run to end the first half at 31-28 with LWC leading.  

To open the second half the Phoenix played well offensively with Tarpley opening the second half with an and one and the made free throw. Mariyah Person came right back down the court and drained a three to tie the game at 34-34. Lindsey Wilson got a couple of stops and then came back down the floor and hit a three to go ahead 37-34. LWC went on a six to nothing run but Tarpley came down the floor and cut it in half after another three. Tarpley hit another and one but the Blue Raiders pulled ahead by seven to end the third quarter. 

The Blue Raiders started the fourth quarter with a five to nothing run to take the lead 54-42. Kayla Gordon answered with a three but LWC poured it on and responded with another three pointer and a layup to take the lead 59-45. Harris drew a foul and hit both free throws and Maddie Brillhart hit a three to bring the Phoenix a little closer with the score at 59-50. The Blue Raiders went down and hit another three to extend their lead to 62-50. After going back and forth CU erased the deficit to 68-60 with 20 seconds left. The Phoenix fall to the Blue Raiders 70-63.

Emaleigh Tarpley led the Phoenix with 13 points and 10 rebounds for another double-double. Maddie Brillhart recorded 12 points shooting 4-8 from the three point line. Mariyah Person had nine points and a rebound to add. 

The Phoenix shot 41.2% from the field and 37.5% from the three point line. The Phoenix could not pull it out with seven lead changes and five different ties.
