LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga.--Cumberland women's tennis dropped a 4-1 decision to No. 22 University of the Cumberlands on Saturday afternoon at the GGC Tennis Facility.

In doubles, the duo of Asya Tilsim Timur and Kaede Hatano delivered a 6-4 victory at the No. 2 spot, while Lara Zugasti and Juanita Mendez battled at No. 3 but fell in a tight 7-6 (7-4) contest. At the top position, Emilia Nowak and Valentina Mendez came up short, 6-4, as Cumberlands took the doubles point.

In singles play, Cumberlands claimed four straight-set victories to secure the team win. At No. 1 and No. 2, Elina Sungatullina and Ame Van Eijk were both defeated 6-0, 6-0. Nowak provided the lone singles win for Cumberland, rallying past Mahiro Hara in a tie breaker, 6-2, 7-6 (8). Hatano and Timur each had their matches unfinished after splitting sets. Zugasti fought hard at No. 6 but fell in a close second set, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4).

Cumberland will look to bounce back today as they close out the GGC Invite today as they take on Our Lady of the Lake.
