Wrestling Blanks Rio Grande on Senior Night

LEBANON, Tenn.--Cumberland Wrestling blanks RV Rio Grande 51-0 on senior night with three pinfalls and three tech falls.

The Phoenix picked up six points at both 125 and 133 as the Red Storm forfeited both weight classes for an early 12-0 lead.

The Phoenix kept it rolling at 141 and 149 as No. 7 Jared Dinh and No. 13 Elijah Griffin each posted tech falls. Dinh beat Conner Blessing 15-0 early in the second period and Griffin, honored on senior night, posted a 16-1 win in the first to balloon the lead to 22-0.

Ellis Otting beat Mackandle Freeman with a 3-1 decision to push the score up three points. No. 22 Eli Clemmons earned a senior night victory by picking up a first period pinfall over Kaylin Foust for a 31-0 Phoenix lead.

Cameron Nesbitt followed on his senior night with a 11-6 decision over Pate Eastin. Rocco Horvath picked up a quick pinfall victory in the first period over Ashton Simison to push it to 40-0.

17th-ranked Tyler Rowland used seven takedowns in the first period to get a 21-6 tech fall. Evan Dixon capped the night with a third period pinfall for the final score of 51-0.

The Phoenix will now get ready for the Mid-South Conference Championships set for Friday February 14th in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
