LEBANON, Tenn.--Bethel uses a big second half to beat the Phoenix in the Dallas Floyd Phoenix Arena 91-82 Thursday night.

Leading the way was Jalen Anglin, who posted a game-high 30 points on 10-of-16 shooting, including three three-pointers and a near-perfect 7-of-8 from the free-throw line. Triston Conger followed with 18 points, contributing five assists and three rebounds. Keyshawn Robinson was a force on the boards, pulling down 14 rebounds to go with his 13 points.

Defensively, Cumberland tallied 12 steals and three blocks, showing active hands throughout the game. The team also controlled the rebounding battle with 41 total boards.

Bethel (15-8, 3-5 MSC) showcased an efficient offensive performance, scoring 91 points while shooting an impressive 50.0% from the field. The Wildcats connected on 35-of-70 shot attempts, though they struggled from beyond the arc, making just 3-of-15 (20.0%). At the free-throw line, they converted 18-of-27 attempts (66.7%).

Jackson Hayes led the scoring effort with 15 points, a career-high for the sophomore, on an efficient 7-of-8 shooting, while Joe Wimberly and Trevor Chatman each added 12 points. Conner Guthrie and David Starr provided valuable contributions off the bench, scoring 10 and 9 points, respectively. Bethel also dominated the glass, securing 50 total rebounds, with Chatman leading the team with seven boards.

Ball movement was a key factor in Bethel's success, as they dished out 14 assists compared to Cumberland's seven. Defensively, the Wildcats recorded 10 steals and three blocks but also committed 17 turnovers.

Anglin scored in the lane for the first points of the game. The Wildcats answered quickly, but Conger scored on back-to-back trips for a quick 6-2 lead. Bethel from there went on a 7-0 run, but Anglin and Robinson got going for the Phoenix to respond. CU went on a 9-0 run as Anglin scored six points and Robinson added in three for a 15-9 lead.

Starr made the next two shots for the Wildcats with free throws sandwiched in between for Cumberland for a 19-13 lead at the first stoppage.

The Wildcats went on a stretch over the next five minutes to get back within one possession trailing 21-19. Q Martin hit two free throws for the Phoenix before Stokes scored in the lane to push it back to 25-20 forcing Bethel into a timeout with seven minutes left.

Out of the break, Anglin drained a three from the wing to get the crowd back into it and then Cumberland trapped Bethel at halfcourt forcing another timeout for Bethel.

The Phoenix pushed the lead out to as much as 11 in the first half, but an-and-one triple from Tyler Neely sparked a big 9-0 run for the Wildcats triling just two points. Anglin and Stokes scored the last two buckets of the half for the Phoenix to go into the break 43-37.

Bethel took over in the second half outsourcing the Phoenix 54-to-39.

Bethel used a dominant stretch in the second half to take control, outscoring Cumberland 22-9 over a span of nearly seven minutes. Trailing 61-53, the Wildcats ignited their run with a dunk from Kendan Maddox, followed by a string of baskets from Jackson Hayes, Joe Wimberly, and Chauncey Hughes III. Hayes' three-pointer at the 8:43 mark put Bethel ahead 62-61, and they never relinquished the lead from there.

Cumberland fought to stay within reach behind Jalin Anglin's 30-point effort, but Bethel continued to build its lead in the final minutes. Clutch free throws from Wimberly, Guthrie, and Hughes sealed the game, capping off a strong second-half performance. Bethel's balanced scoring attack and efficient execution down the stretch secured a 91-82 victory.

The Phoenix have a chance to redeem themselves on Saturday as they host Campbellsville in the Dallas Floyd at 3:00 p.m.
