MACON, Ga.--No. 14 Cumberland men's tennis secured a hard-fought 4-3 victory over No. 13 Middle Georgia State on Saturday afternoon, winning three singles matches to complete the win.

The Phoenix started strong in doubles as Vitor Ferreira and Julian Parada claimed a 6-4 victory at No. 1. However, Middle Georgia took the No. 2 doubles court leaving it up to the No. 3 to decide the doubles point. Paul-Daniel Meyer and Daniel Wessels came up clutch with a 7-5 win to earn the point.

In singles play, Middle Georgia State won at No. 1 and No. 2 to earn two points. The Phoenix responded with key performances as Meyer dominated at No. 3 with a 6-4, 6-4 win, while Gabriel Godoy delivered a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 5 to put Cumberland on the board.

The Knights picked up the win at No. 4 as Duarte Mestre outdueled Julian Parada. With the match relying on the No. 6 singles result, Hassan Ammar provided a clutch three-set win outlasting Mauricio Olschansky 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 to clinch the win for the Phoenix.

Cumberland improves to 4-4 on the season and will look to carry this momentum into their next match tomorrow as CU takes on Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Georgia.
