Freed-Hardeman Completes Sweep in Game Three

HENDERSON, Tenn.--Cumberland softball struggled to generate offense as Freed-Hardeman completed the series sweep with a 10-0 run-rule victory in five innings on Saturday morning at Tucker Field.

The Lions (10-10, 5-4 MSC) jumped ahead early, scoring four runs in the first inning. Kiersten Mesler put Freed-Hardeman on the board with an RBI single before Myleah Hardy delivered the big blow, a three-run homer to center field.

Cumberland (11-16, 2-4 MSC) was unable to respond at the plate, managing just one hit in the contest, a fourth-inning single from Jacey Hatfield. Freed-Hardeman extended its lead in the fourth, plating six more runs oas they chased Cumberland starter Madison Croxford before closing out the fifth inning for the run rule win. 

Croxford (6-5) took the loss in the circle, allowing 10 runs,nine earned, on 10 hits in 3.1 innings. Annalee Moore came in for relief, recording the final two outs without allowing a hit.

Kylee Brown (7-6) earned the win for Freed-Hardeman, tossing a complete-game one-hitter while striking out four.

Cumberland will be at No. 8 Georgia Gwinnett on Tuesday before hosting Campbellsville for a weekend series on Friday and Saturday.
