Guzman takes Third and Dinh Finishes in Fifth to Wrap Up NAIA National Championship

PARK CITY, Kan.--Victor Guzman takes third place and Jared Dinh finishes in fifth to wrap up the NAIA National Championship.

Victor Guzman took on 2-seed Nathan Lendt from Doane in the consolation semifinals. Guzman got a takedown in the first and that was really all he needed to get the win. He had a big third period with an escape and a takedown to get an 8-2 decision and advance to the third place match.

In the third place match, Guzman faced the 10-seed Alex Pena from Wayland Baptist. Guzman caught Pena in the first period and pinned him to finish in third place at 149.

Jared Dinh took on No. 5 seed Cade Manion from Oklahoma City in the consolation semis. Dinh could not get much going against Manion scoring just one point in a 6-1 loss.

With the loss, Dinh dropped to the fifth place match to face 4-seed Kael Brisker from Southeastern. Brisker ended up medically forfeiting to give Dinh fifth place in the 141-pound bracket.

After session V, the Phoenix remain in 12th place with 46.0 points. Grand View holds on to a 40 point lead over Life with just the championship matches to take place tonight.

The final team standings will be announced following the session tonight. Both Dinh and Guzman will be recognized as NAIA All-Americans at tonights national championship.
