Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Battle and Beat RV Oakland City University 2-0

Evansville, IN. - - It was the Phoenix who ran out 2-0 winners against a strong Oakland City University side. Seika Stull netted the first goal of the game in the second half to put CU in front. Less than five minutes later Olga Wallemo added the second which took the wind out of the Mighty Oaks sails and the Phoenix ran out winners.

The first half was evenly contested with both teams battling to break the deadlock. The Phoenix were knocking on the door early with shots from Wallemo and Miku Kayama but the Oakland keeper snuffed out any danger. On the other side Celia Martin was active making sure she kept another clean sheet.

Towards the end of the first half, Cumberland had to weather the storm of the Oakland attack with the home side on the front foot. Niamh Warrender and Ellie Winter remained solid and ensured the game was 0-0 at the break.

Going into the second half it was Cumberland who got off to a quick start and put pressure on Oakland. A lightning speed run by Kadisha Martina started the Phoenix attack before she passed to Olga Wallemo who played a perfect lofted ball in behind for Seika Stull to slot it past the keeper and make it 1-0.

With CU gaining all the momentum it was Olga Wallemo who picked a bouncing ball up 30 yards out and hit a looping shot which bounced over the keeper and made it 2-0. The Phoenix were in a comfortable position from here and with some good game management finished the game 2-0 winners.

Cumberland are on the road again on September 10 as they face Missouri Baptist University in St Louis, MO.
